there is no mention of the religious nature of this book in the description. I wanted a general book – this is useless, and a waste of money. the publisher should be ashamed of not being upfront in selling a religious book!

Very disappointed in this book because it was not what was advertised. It should have been titled “ultimate CHRISTIAN resource.” If it had, I would not have wasted my money. I agree with another reviewer who says that this book is not something they can use because of its religious nature. I wish I had read that review before because I would not have bought the book. Perhaps it is a good marketing concept to title the book a “contemporary resource” … so as to mislead and increase sales, but instead it has just angered and frustrated this reader and I will avoid this publisher in the future.

I purchased this book with the hope that it could give me some ideas and illustrations for talks during our youth group meetings.

The book is full of great stories, some long and others short. I’m reminded of Chicken Soup for the Soul in a lot of cases. It even includes sections with each story to flag when I used it so that I don’t go retelling the same story over and over.

Unfortunately I’ve found that I do better with examples and stories from my own life, the life of people hearing the talk or stories from the news in the past two weeks. While having these stories may work for some people, I had a hard time using them and feeling that they made a real impact on the listener.

This book is well organized and has up-to-date illustrations

for many topics that are relevant today for speakers.

I know that we will enjoy this book for many years to come.

This is a wonderful resource of stories. Filled with tons of topics to pick from. It does have a religious tone to some of them, but usually it is added at the end, so you can easily leave it out. So it is for all speakers.

I have several other books of this type – and it is by far the best. I am glad I got it.
